Golden Sun Dark Dawn Guide: Carver’s Camp to Konpa Ruins

Follow the path to the south and you should be able to see 2 places at the world map. Ignore the east one (carver’s lumberyard west) for now and then enter the north one(Goma highlands road).

Goma highlands road

This place only consist 2 linear area, so I don’t include the map of this area. Ignore treasure chest in area 1 (it seems you can’t obtain the treasure at this moment). On the 2nd area you will immediately see a log puzzle. Solution:

Push the log until you have the same position like in the left screenshot. Now push the log following the direction of the arrow in the left screenshot. The position of  the log should be like in the right screenshot now. Follow the direction of the arrow again to finish this puzzle (You must push the top log first, so it doesn’t hinder the bottom log). The log will fall into the water and you can use it to jump to the other side.

cast whirlwind on all the flowers, climb the tree and jump on the flower to the chest.. the chest contains the themis axe, an awesome weapon for tyrell at this point of the game.

Follow the path to the next area. You will arrive at

Carver’s Camp

Help the child by using “whirlwind”. Talk to Carver and watch a long dialogue. Buy new equipments at the item shop (don’t forget to buy the Magic rod at the “artifacts” menu).Before you continue your journey you can get 2 djinn. Check the upper right vase near southwest house (locked house) to obtain 123 coins.

  • Go to the area shown in the screenshot. “Move” the log so it falls to the ground and then use it as a stepping stone to jump to the other side. You will arrive at Goma highlands road, follow the path until you see a gondola. Cast “fireball” at the gondola so it comes to you. Ride the gondola and cast the “Fireball” once more time. Follow the path until you can talk to wind Djinn (Gust) and it will join you.
  • You should be able to see that there are 2 exits at the south of Carver’s camp. Go to south east exit (ladder). Go downstairs and you will immediately see mercury djinn (chill), talk to the djinn and it will join your party.

After obtaining those djinns, go to the south west exit of this area. You will arrive at the world map, head south and keep following the path until you arrive at the Konpa gate.

  • You can obtain Mars djinn (fever) by walking around at the area shown in the screenshot. You can go to Carver’s lumberyard east at this part of the world map. Use Gondola to go to the other side, you will arrive at Carver’s lumberyard west. You can push the stone to create a shortcut If you want to come back to goma highland road or patcher’s place later.
  • You can obtain Zagan from Carver’s lumberyard east. Use “whirlwind” at the flower on the left screenshot and then climb the tree nearby. Jump from the tree to the floating flower. Go downstairs to the east and then push the log that presses the flower to the right. Use whirlwind on the flower, climb the tree and then jump into it until you reach the cave. Check the shining object and you will obtain Zagan.

Konpa gate

You will see an event about a man show his gate card to a gatekeeper, so do exactly as he did. As the gate open go upstairs using stairs nearby. You should be able to see a venus djinn. He will disappear when you are getting closer to it. Use whirlwind at the flower and he will appear and join you.

After obtaining the djinn go north to the world map and follow the path until you reach

Konpa ruins

===Move orb===

Ignore the treasure chest at the entrance because you can’t get it now. Go inside and head to point (1) on my map. “Move” the yellow orb into the hole and it will activate some kind of panel. Exit from this room and go to point (2) on my map. “Move” the statue so it presses the shining switch. New path will appear after the statue press the switch, so keep going to the next statue until you activate the entire panel in this area and you can continue to the next area.

You can push the “Lotus” stone at the point (Z1) to the bottom. Press the switch on point (3) to create a shortcut to the entrance of Konpa Ruins. You should be able to see a same switch like before in the Statue’s hand, so go over there and then press it. It will make the left stairs appear.

===whirlwind orb===

Go to the point (4) and use “whirlwind” at the orb. It will activate new mechanism in this dungeon. You can see a flower pattern in the ground now. You can use whirlwind to raise the platform so you can use it as a stepping stone.

There is a same Puzzle on the next room but a little bit harder.

To obtain treasure chest activate (1) and (2).
To drop first stone activate (1).
To drop 2nd stone activate (1) and (4) and push 1st stone to (3).
To go to the north door activate (1) and (7). 1st stone pushed to (6) and the second stone pushed to (5).

Follow the path and you will return to the main entrance of Konpa ruins. You should see a elevator on the left and a door on the right. Enter the door and push the “Lotus” stone (Z2) to the pit. Go back to the main entrance and then use the elevator to go down.

Head east and you should see a similar elevator. Go up by using it and then enter the door nearby. Push the last “Lotus” stone (Z3) to the pit. There will be an event showing the room with 4 lotus stones.

===Fireball orb===

Push the stones into each hole and it will trigger another event. Go to statue’s hand and agree when you are being asked. You will receive a power to read a glyph now. So go back to the lotus room and read the glyph. There will be 4 statues appear and a hint to solve the puzzle which is very obvious. See the screenshot if you don’t know how to solve them.

After you have finished the puzzle, stand on the lotus floor to go up (konpa ruins 4f).

Go left first because the right path is blocked. Keep following the path until you arrive at the outside. Go to the point (5) and then press the switch to open the door. Open the treasure chest and you will get Grip crystal.

You must get out from this room by using “Grip”, so equip it from the item menu. To get out you need to obtain stone key (Blue Square which you see in this room). Use grip to get close and then use it again to grab the stone key.

You can get Jupiter Djinn by going to the location in the map  (Use ‘Grip” psynergy). Chase the Djinn until it stands like in the screenshot and then use Grip to catch it.

Now get out from this room and go to point (6) on my map. Use “fireball” at the orb to trigger new mechanism again.Now go back to the main entrance and use “fireball” at the box (7). It will reveal a new path to Konpa Cave.

    You can also get to the chest a much easier way. Right as you walk into area one jump across the stream in front of the sign, walk to the right until you get stopped by the higher cliff and blow up the one flower between the higher cliff and the tree. Then climb the tree and jump from tre to flower to the cliff with all the tree stumps, walk to the higher cliff and walk up the stairs, climb on the trolley thing on the rope and use fireball psyenergy to go across to the left to get the mint.

    another thing, you can get the chest in the ruins that you see at the entrance. After obtaining grip, use it to cross the main chamber on the second floor. then its a short walk west.

    I passed the cave already. Is there any point in the game where I can go back?

    Great guide so far, although for the record the plural of Djinn is Djinni. =D

    I usually prefer to play through a game for the first time without a guide then use one to go back and nab everything although I already had a “duh” moment where I had to consult yours. Keep em coming!

    there is another chest in the first area with Mint.. you use whirwind on the flowers as well to cross (it’s on the left cliff)

      at that time i don’t know flower can be lifted by using whirlwind :D so i have missed 2 chests on this area. Thank you very much for the information about the treasure content

    Hey I just thought id let everyone know the part on this website where it sais the chest is unobtainable in this section is not true, You simply cast whirlwind on all the flowers, climb the tree and jump on the flower to the chest.. the chest contains the themis axe, an awsome weapon for tyrell at this point of the game..

    Personally i kept it because its more powerful then any shop weapon atm, but it can also get you 1425 coins

    To get to the chest in Goma highlands road, use “whirlwind” at the flower on the east of the tree and jump across them to get to the chest. It’s a Themis Axe.
